C h r i s t i a n i t y A long term walk with Jesus ChristianitySite.com |
|
Christianity is a
religion of the universe for now and the future. As a relatively new
faith system, the Christian project is in what might be called its state
of adolescence. Some times fearful, other times over confident, taken
with itself at other times, the Christian community is experimenting
with its new found challenges in the global field of action. |
| Before
there was a New Testament scripture or an organized church or a formal
theology - there was Jesus and the people. Jesus walked with people.
That walk with Jesus continues. As Christians considered the
meaning of Jesus they gradually realized that the holy One of the
universe was best grasped as three in one. Creator, Savior, and Spirit.
Creator being the mysterious source of the universe. Savior being the
human face of this Creator. Spirit being the unpredictable energy filled
activity of the divine. Some call this Christian experience The Trinity.
Others say the whole business is really beyond words and concepts.
|
| The human face is where we begin. Born a Jew, in the Roman province of Palestine, (present Israel, Palestine and Jordan), Jesus became a traveling teacher at about age 30 near his home town of Nazareth and in Jerusalem. After three years of walking with the people, Jesus was executed and soon was found to be a living reality. Christians have come to know Jesus as the presence of Creator God that continues today. | |||||
| As
a vision of the future, the Christian Way is prepared to walk with Jesus
through all human history and beyond. Struggles and questions are
the nature of the Way. The Spirit is the safeguard against human
over confidence that claims to understand and manipulate Jesus and the
Creator. This series of web pages present Christianity as a world religion made up of a bewildering variety of traditions and appearances. |
